Hospitality Venue Review – Mimi's

Mimi’s evokes serenity in it’s beautiful, pared back interiors in a perfect spot overlooking iconic Coogee Beach.

Mimi’s is the highly anticipated fine dining restaurant located in the middle level of Merivale’s Coogee Pavilion. Will’s bar and Una Ma’s are also on this level and provide different offerings which complement Mimi’s and keep patrons coming back to try these boutique venues within Coogee Pavilion.

Mimi’s aesthetic is quite neutral and reflects the coastal landscape colour palette, textures and natural materials. The interior celebrates it’s location with vaulted, arched windows framing the ocean and headland views.

The finishes and materials lean towards the earthy colours in the cliffs and headlands rather than the blue hues of the ocean. This colour palette is on trend with 2020’s earthy tones, yet is timeless in the design direction, luxe detailing of joinery and furniture selections.

Mimi’s was a design collaboration of ACME working together with the Merivale team, Snoop and executive chef Jordan Toft. The end result showcasing how collaboration can be so successful.

Coogee and surrounding suburbs are lucky to have such a beautiful restaurant offering in mimi’s, allowing locals to enjoy their dining experiences without needing to venture into the city for a special occasion.

Favourite design feature

It’s a close call between the contemporary, minimal style of the beautiful furniture and the vaulted, arched windows.

Creative solution/ quirk

The ceiling is quite low and the design solution focuses the patrons attention towards the arched windows celebrating the view. The beautiful furniture in earthy tones and various light fittings also draw your attention away from the main ceiling.

Favourite beverage/ food

We loved the spanner crab, scallops, pipis and the bread was delicious. The novelty of the caviar with frozen vodka shot reminded me of the hospitality theatrics of Sketch in London with the caviar man in top hat and the way the waitress poured our champagne from a great height.

KO Designer highly recommends Mimi's, to experience the beauty of the interior, the high attention to detail in both service and delicious food and the incredible location next to Coogee Beach.
